Believe in Something

Believe in Something

Hi everyone. You’ve probably heard about Nike’s new ad campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick. The ad says “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” There has been a lot of political talk about this particular ad, and Kaepernick’s stand protesting against the US flag and the national anthem.  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2018/09/03/colin-kaepernick-nike-ad-just-do-protest/1186501002/

I have my own views on Kaepernick and his kneeling movement. You can probably guess what they are, given my pride in my heritage as an American, descended from a long line of pioneers back to the 1600s.

But here is my point: Kaepernick and his political views aside, the statement itself, “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” is actually good advice. So many people just live from day to day, from experience to experience, without any deep life-commitments.

I founded Aspect Ministries in 2013 because I believe in certain things: Jesus as the Son of God. Spreading his Kingdom of truth and goodness and peace. Helping Christians become more knowledgeable and skilled representatives of that Kingdom in our corrupt times. In 2013, I was prepared to sacrifice for those life-commitments. I still am.

What life commitments are you prepared to sacrifice for?
